Music posters is a really interesting topic for discussion. What are these
posters good for? Well, some people have some low quality papers on
their walls, cheaply printed and having strange pictures on them, and
they call them posters. Are all posters like that? If so, why can the story of music
posters be interesting to anyone?
Well, music posters are very important for many people. Some people
just don't like the banal looks of their walls, wallpaper is not good
enough for them to decorate their rooms, so they go for music posters.
These large format pictures, hung on the walls serve for several goals:
first of all the enjoyment of the person, who lives in the room, or
works in the office, they are hung in. On the other hand they give the
visitors a hint at what is his taste. What kind of music he loves
listening, how important this music is to him. And if going deeper -
music posters may reveal the personality, the inner world of their
owner, be it one single artist or walls covered with hundreds of
posters.
There are very many bands posters available in any book-store, but some
of them are really good, the others are of a rather doubtful quality.
One
has to know, where and how to purchase good music posters. And we are
going to help you at our resource. You will find lots of information
about where to buy music posters. Well, actually you can even find
music posters online. How to do it and what to do then - all that we'll
explain to you in a few minutes. But before we proceed, let's first
explore the music posters history.
Well, first posters dealing with music were the ones which advertised
certain events in the musical world. Such as, for instance, concerts,
festivals and many other. But then many people wanted these
posters at their homes. Some of them, especially this refers to the
teenagers, would simply steal the posters displaying their favorite
bands or singers from the street and take them home. But,
mass production soon came to meet their demands and started printing
large format beautiful pictures displaying the portraits of rock stars.
These were not used for advertising purposes, but themselves were, and
still are, bringing income to the people who print them.
But if we were to look more deeply into the history of subject, namely
music posters history, we would first have to study the history of
posters in general. How did ancient posters look? Did they exist at all
in old times? Or are they the fruit of our technological era?
Yes, they did exist in the old times. The first posters, though, had no
picture on them. These were large formate pictures, telling the
citizens of cities about the coming events or about a certain law,
adopted by the authorities. These large format sheets of paper were
hung in the streets and were meant to inform people, bore only
informational function.
According to the french historian Max Gallo the people all over the
world have been seeing the posters in their modern looks. These posters
at first also could mainly be seen in the streets of large cities and
were meant for advertising purposes. They informed people about the
concerts, other cultural events, encouraged them to purchase certain
goods or to vote for a certain politician and political powers.
So the modern kind posters were first printed as early as 1870. The
modernized and perfected printed techniques made it possible to produce
those massively. The invention of lithography in 1896 (it was invented
by Alois Senefelder from Germany) and the later invention of
chromolithography made it possible to make posters colorful and
beautiful.
In the end of nineteenth century this technique spread all over Europe
and this caused a real wave of poster art.
A french poster designer Jules Chéret, who had been a scene
decorator previously, has invented new lithographic technique, which
allowed him to add even more color to the posters and this made a real
revolution in posters production. He managed to turn the main streets
of French capital into real galleries, as many people, who used to see
them say. His posters were meant for advertising purposes only. Later
on, different kind of posters would appear, the ones, we love having
on the walls of our rooms, the ones that bring comfort to our home and
our souls - the ones that are so easy to be downloaded or ordered in online poster shops. |
